Overview

Tragon is one of the three great powers of the Central Continent, founded along a narrow, fortress-like coastline pressed between the Hammeval mountain range and the eastern sea. Where its neighbors turned inward after finding peace, Tragon has never stopped expanding — a century-long campaign to reclaim the coastline from what remains of an ancient war still shapes the nation's identity and territory to this day.

History

Foundation

In the chaos following the fall of the Yalta Empire, House Fabrus — a family of smiths who had wielded influence through craft and armament rather than politics in the imperial court — crossed a mountain pass between the Hammalaya and Hammeval ranges and settled the plains and coastline beyond, around IY 724. Their skill in ironworking drew displaced refugees and local peoples alike, and the settlement grew quickly under their leadership.

In IY 737, House Fabrus declared the founding of Tragon. On the same day, they began what would become the defining project of the young nation: the purification of the Fire Lands, a stretch of the Hammeval range still infested by fire spirits — remnants of the primordial defeated in the Primordial War. The campaign was made possible by an alliance with Triton, an Elder who held dominion over the seas east of Hammeval and the son of Pontus, the Primordial of the sea. Fabrus offered a plain bargain: if Triton would help drive out the spirits fouling his waters, Tragon would settle and hold the reclaimed land. Triton agreed.

Unlike Tilrestan's alliance with Sha-Called, forged through unconditional aid freely given, Tragon's arrangement with Triton was transactional from the start — a trade of mutual benefit between two parties who each had something the other needed.

Later History

The purification of the Fire Lands did not end with Tragon's founding. It continued for more than a century afterward, advancing steadily southward alongside the nation's own expansion — Tragon is the only one of the three great powers whose territory continued to grow even after the first Three Powers Summit.

The first Three Powers Summit itself, convened in IY 745, was held in a city within Tragon's own borders. Tragon's mountainous natural border with the interior left it with almost no territorial disputes to settle, and border questions were never a significant point of contention at any summit.

During the Three-Year War (AY 149–152), Tragon did not commit forces to the conflict directly, providing logistical and material support instead.

Geography

Tragon occupies a narrow strip of coastline running along the eastern side of the Hammeval mountain range, which forms an almost complete natural barrier between Tragon and the interior of the Central Continent. The coastline itself is largely cliffs and narrow shores, and much of Tragon's settlement has grown into the mountains themselves rather than spreading along open ground.

Founding Family

Tragon's name — meaning "three" — commemorates the three Fabrus siblings who founded it. Marcus Fabrus, the eldest, led the purification effort and the founding of the homeland itself. Agrippa Fabrus, the eldest daughter, crossed to the continent of Aim and, together with a local leader named Vortigern, founded Britannia, a sister kingdom to Tragon. Postumus Fabrus, the youngest son, held and developed Tragon's first port city, laying the foundations of what would become the Steel Fleet.

Military

Tragon fields the most powerful navy in the known world, built entirely of steel forged from the iron mined in the Hammeval range — a fleet known simply as the Steel Fleet. Its origins trace back to Postumus Fabrus and the shipbuilding tradition he established at Tragon's first port.

Economy

Tragon's economy centres on iron extraction and steel refining, drawing on the resources of the Hammeval range. This industrial base underpins both its naval strength and its broader manufacturing capacity.

Relations

Tragon is a signatory to the mutual non-aggression treaty concluded at the first Three Powers Summit in IY 745, binding it to Krossen and Tilrestan. Geographic isolation behind the Hammeval range has kept relations with both nations largely free of territorial friction.

Tragon maintains a close bond with Britannia, the sister kingdom founded on the continent of Aim by Agrippa Fabrus and Vortigern — a relationship often described as one between parent and sibling nations rather than as an alliance between strangers.
